How to Clean RC Bait Boat After Fishing
Post-fishing cleaning routine for LYX series RC bait boats. Rinse hull, dry electronics, check propellers and waterproof seals to maintain performance.
Before You Start
- LYX series RC bait boat (any model: 001A / 001B / 001C / 001D)
- Remote controller with batteries installed
- Battery charger (included in package)
- Clean, dry workspace near water
Step-by-Step Instructions
Remove from Water and Power Off
Bring the boat back to shore. Turn off the remote controller first, then power off the boat. Remove the battery and set it aside for charging.
Rinse the Hull
Using fresh water (not salt water), gently rinse the entire hull to remove lake/river water residue, algae and debris. Do not use high-pressure water jets.
Clean the Propellers
Check both propellers for tangled fishing line, weeds or debris. Remove any obstructions carefully. Spin each propeller to verify free rotation.
Dry the Electronics Area
Open the battery compartment and hopper lids. Use a soft dry cloth to wipe any moisture from the interior. Leave the compartments open to air dry for at least 2 hours.
Check Waterproof Seals
Inspect all rubber gaskets and O-rings for signs of wear, cracking or displacement. A damaged seal can allow water to enter the electronics. Replace if needed.
Wipe Down and Store
Wipe the entire boat with a dry microfiber cloth. Store in the original packaging or a protective bag. Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Common Mistakes
- Using high-pressure water to rinse (can force water past seals into electronics)
- Storing the boat while still wet (causes mold, corrosion and seal degradation)
- Not checking propellers for fishing line (line can damage the propeller shaft seal)
- Using harsh chemicals or solvents to clean the hull (damages plastic and seals)
- Leaving bait residue in the hoppers (attracts pests and causes odor)
Safety & Maintenance Tips
- Always remove the battery before cleaning to prevent accidental power-on
- Never submerge the boat beyond its designed waterline for cleaning
- If you used the boat in saltwater, rinse thoroughly with fresh water as soon as possible
- Apply a thin layer of silicone grease to O-rings every few months to maintain seal quality
- If water entered the electronics compartment, do not power on. Dry completely and contact support
