How to Use GPS Waypoint Mode
How to set GPS waypoints on your LYX-001B or LYX-001D bait boat and use auto-navigation for precise bait delivery. Waypoint strategy for carp fishing.
Before You Start
- LYX series RC bait boat (any model: 001A / 001B / 001C / 001D)
- Remote controller with batteries installed
- Battery charger (included in package)
- Clean, dry workspace near water
Step-by-Step Instructions
Power On and Wait for GPS Signal
Turn on your LYX-001B or LYX-001D bait boat. Wait 1-2 minutes for the GPS module to acquire satellite signal. The LCD screen will show the current GPS coordinates when locked.
Set the Home Point
Before moving the boat, press the 'Set Home' button on the remote. This records your current location as the return point. The LCD will confirm 'Home Saved'.
Navigate to Target Manually
Drive the boat to your desired bait delivery spot using the remote controller. Watch the distance indicator on the LCD screen. Note the coordinates of your target area.
Save as Waypoint
Once at the target location, press the 'Save Waypoint' button. You can save multiple waypoints (up to 4 on LYX-001B, 8 on LYX-001D). Each waypoint is numbered.
Activate Auto-Go
Select the waypoint number on the LCD screen and press 'Auto-Go'. The boat will automatically navigate to the saved waypoint. You can release bait at the destination using the hopper button.
Use Auto-Return
Press the 'Return Home' button to have the boat navigate back to the home point automatically. The boat will use GPS to find the most direct route back.
Common Mistakes
- Not waiting for GPS signal lock before setting waypoints (causes inaccurate positioning)
- Setting the home point after moving the boat (home point will be wrong)
- Relying solely on GPS without monitoring the boat visually
- Saving waypoints too close together (less than 5 meters apart may cause navigation errors)
- Forgetting to set a new home point when fishing from a different bank position
Safety & Maintenance Tips
- Always maintain visual contact with the boat even in GPS mode
- GPS accuracy is typically 2-3 meters, so allow for slight positioning variance
- In strong wind or current, GPS navigation may be slower. Give the boat extra time
- If the GPS signal is lost (LCD shows 'No Signal'), switch to manual control immediately
- Test GPS mode in a small area before using it for long-range delivery
